Tips & Tricks (5)
- Achieve Perfect Doneness with the Flake Test 🍋Check salmon doneness by gently pressing the thickest part with a fork—it should flake easily into moist, opaque pieces at exactly 12-13 minutes, ensuring you don't overcook and dry out the fish.
- Butter Infusion for Maximum Flavor 🧈Place cold butter pats directly on the salmon before baking so they melt into a rich sauce that combines with lemon juice, creating a silky coating that prevents dryness.
- Lemon Zest Over Juice for Brightness 🍊Finish with fresh lemon zest rather than just juice to add bright, aromatic citrus notes without making the fish acidic or watery during the quick cooking time.
- Room Temperature Salmon Cooks Evenly ⏱️Remove salmon from the refrigerator 5-10 minutes before baking so the center cooks at the same rate as the edges, eliminating cold spots and ensuring consistent texture throughout.
- Arrange Lemon Slices Under the Fish 🎯Layer thin lemon slices on the baking sheet beneath the salmon to infuse delicate citrus flavor from below while creating a non-stick barrier that prevents sticking.
